Information about Coronavirus in EnglishSpanish | Creole

Dear Parents and Guardians,

My priorities, as principal of Eagles Landing Middle School, are keeping your children safe and making sure that you are well informed. I would like to share with you a Coronavirus update.

It is important to remember that there are currently no known cases of Coronavirus in Palm Beach County. Our school, and schools throughout the District, are functioning as normal.

The School District is being proactive by initiating enhanced cleaning methods in all schools. The District's Department of Environmental Services (ECS) and the Department of Food Services have implemented enhanced campus and kitchen cleaning. This proactive District-wide intensive cleaning initiative will be re-evaluated at the end of March to determine if continued intensive cleaning is warranted.

One of the best ways to prevent the spread of illness is through proper handwashing. All schools are well stocked with soap and paper towels.
Please discuss the importance of proper handwashing with your children. As a school, we are encouraging students to wash their hands frequently.
In an effort to keep parents and guardians informed, the District has developed a website specifically dedicated to Coronavirus information. On this site, you will find updates, resources, and advice about speaking with your children about Coronavirus.

www.palmbeachschools.org/coronavirusespanol (Spanish)
www.palmbeachschools.org/coronaviruskreyol (Creole)

On this site you will also see a very important video which features the Director of the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County delivering an overview of Coronavirus.

The video can also be seen at: https://youtu.be/MMCP4eHNKw8

The School District follows health protocol as outlined by the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Parents, any time that your child is experiencing flu-like symptoms or has a fever, it is important to consult your pediatrician. Please follow the pediatrician’s advice regarding when to keep children home from school.

Regarding field trips:

1. Parents will be asked to sign an additional permission slip.

2. All field trips are voluntary and if parents choose not to participate, there are no academic consequences to the student.

3. The District is continually watching developments surrounding Coronavirus and reserves the option to cancel a field trip at any time.

As always, please contact me with additional questions or concerns.
